Yes. Richland County is on our active buy list. We respond to offer requests within 48 hours and underwrite both producing and non-producing tracts.
Richland County sits in the Williston Basin in eastern Montana, immediately west of the North Dakota Bakken core. Some Bakken horizontal development extends into Richland County, but at lower intensity than McKenzie or Williams counties on the ND side. Producing wells generate meaningful royalty; new drilling is selective.
Montana's tax structure includes a tiered oil and gas production tax with rates up to 9.3% on oil, plus the Resource Indemnity and Ground Water Assessment Tax (0.5%) and county ad valorem. The standard rate is high, but reduced incentive rates (0.5%-2.5%) apply during initial production windows for qualifying horizontal wells. North Dakota imposes a combined ~10% (5% gross production + 5% extraction). The two states are roughly comparable in total burden, with Montana slightly more variable based on incentive periods.
Depends on whether production has been continuous. If a producing well holds the lease, it remains in force. If production has ceased and no replacement well has been drilled, the lease may have terminated under the cessation-of-production clause. We can review specific Richland County tracts to confirm lease status.
Closings on Richland County mineral rights typically take 7 to 30 days from the date you accept our offer, depending on title complexity. We handle county-level title work, PSA drafting, mineral deed preparation, and notary coordination at our expense.
Just a tract description (abstract or survey, section/township/range, or a legal description from your deed) and any recent royalty check stubs if the interest is producing. You do not need to gather deeds or title opinions up front.
Richland County sits in the Williston Basin, where operators are targeting bakken / three forks. Activity is led by names like Continental Resources, Chord Energy, Kraken Oil & Gas, and new drilling continues to shape the play across the Bakken and Three Forks formations.
If you hold mineral rights, royalty interests, NPRI, or ORRI anywhere in the county, we'd like to put a written offer in front of you. Every offer we send is funded from our own balance sheet — there's no auction, no broker markup, and no third-party capital waiting to approve the deal.
